In 1971 he married Linda and moved her from Chicago to a 12.5' x 14.5' cabin at the head of the Chitina River. There they spent the winters trapping fur and learning to live in bush Alaska. It was 110 miles of wilderness to the nearest road and they had to fly to their cabin where they stayed until they visited McCarthy at Christmas. Eventually Jim bought his own plane and learned to fly. This made it easier to get out to civilization more often. In 1975 the Marchini's began building their home at 88.5 mile on the Richardson Hwy and they continue to live there year round today. Jim enjoys hunting and has travelled all over the world to pursue his sport. A hunter, fisherman, trapper and a conservationist Jim is a typically proud Alaskan sportsman. Jim, Linda and their black lab "Tok" (named for the town where he was born) welcomes you to Willow Lake Alaska. |
